Bilingual Transition to Teaching EPFE 505. FOUNDATIONS OF LANGUAGE-MINORITY EDUCATION (3). Examination and analyses of the historical and social contexts of language-minority education in the United States, with emphases on bilingual education and the instruction of English as a second language in elementary, middle, and high schools. Designed to provide pre-service and in-service elementary, secondary, and vocational educators information and skills necessary to accommodate exceptional students placed in regular school settings, including the establishment and implementation of individual educational programs and other concerns encompassed under the individuals with Disabilities Education Act of 1990 (Public Law 101-476) and the Regulations of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. The sequence of courses is determined by Northern Illinois University and the course requirements or course content are liable to change with notice.
